Masons enjoy the benefit of having many Concordant bodies that they can join dependant upon their individual desires. The basic requirement to join one of these organizations is that you must join one of the Masonic Lodges first and keep your membership in that Lodge active. The Staten Island Craftsmen is an organization of Masons on Staten Island dedicated to having fellowship in a fun and casual surrounding. They have annual parties and outings as well as contribute to various charitable organizations on Staten Island.They meet the 1st Tuesday of the month.
Shriners, those Masons who wear the familiar Fez, are Masons who have completed the degrees in York Rite or Scottish Rite and wish to further their Masonic work. Shriners own and operate 22 hospitals and burn institutes for Crippled children and burn victims. The treatment is free of charge. As a fund-raising vehicle, among others, is the annual East-West Shrine Football game in which college seniors are showcased to professional football scouts. Scottish Rite is an organization open to Masons in good standing who wish to receive more teaching of the morals and history of Masonry.
